It was an absolute emotional ride. @AlwaysRamCharan anna is at his best. When someone like Charan anna agrees to do a subject like this, it becomes a huge encouragement for film makers to push boundaries with their stories.

@BuchiBabuSana nailed it telling the story of an athlete finding his purpose. Buchi’s hard work is visible in each and every frame of Peddi.

@arrahman sir does his magic so effectively and he never overtakes the emotional narrative that is unfolding and beautifully complements it adding to the experience. What stood out technically for me was

@RathnaveluDop sir’s cinematography. Visual story telling at its best. I am a huge fan of analogue photography and it was a treat to watch a key sequence in a star studded movie being shot on film. I am secretly praying the industry shifts back to film thus bringing back the discipline and the actual fun of making movies 🙂 Congratulations to team Peddi for making a really good movie. Peddi is a sure shot theatrical watch. Go have fun this weekend.”

HT writer Neeshita Nyayapati has written about how the heroine’s mistreatment is still called romance in the movie. “I watched Buchi Babu Sana’s Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Peddi’s premiere show and walked out feeling like I had watched two different films. One film understood dignity, questioned the loss of identity, and depicted the struggle of a man who wanted to be viewed simply as a human being. But all that applied only to its male lead.”Read the full piece here.

The Hindustan Times review of Peddi reads: “It works well as a sports film because the portions involving cricket, kushti and sprinting have a bigger stake than just winning a game. All this while AR Rahman’s stellar music plays in the background. Where the film falters is when it relies on scenes that add nothing to the story beyond the same old masala. Nonetheless, the film is a win for both Buchi and Ram.”

Peddi released in theatres on June 4 after paid previews in select cinemas on June 3 evening.
