Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Saturday paid his last respects to veteran Tamil filmmaker, writer and actor K Bhagyaraj, who died after suffering a cardiac arrest. Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains were kept at his residence in Chennai’s Nungambakkam, where fans, film personalities and political leaders gathered to pay tribute to the celebrated filmmaker.
Vijay arrived at the residence, placed a floral wreath on Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains and offered his condolences to the bereaved family.

Several videos from the residence have surfaced on social media, capturing emotional scenes from the final farewell.
In one widely shared clip, Vijay is seen offering a floral tribute before consoling Bhagyaraj’s son, actor Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, who broke down in tears. The actor-turned-politician embraced him and also met Bhagyaraj’s wife, Poornima Bhagyaraj, to express his condolences.
Ahead of his visit, Vijay announced that Bhagyaraj would be accorded state honours during his final journey in recognition of his contributions to Tamil cinema.

Superstar Rajinikanth also visited Bhagyaraj’s residence to pay his final respects to his longtime friend.
Several other film personalities remembered the late filmmaker on social media. Megastar Chiranjeevi shared a heartfelt tribute, while actor Trisha Krishnan recalled her last meeting with Bhagyaraj in an Instagram Story, remembering that they had shared a meal at the wedding of actor Khushbu Sundar’s daughter.
K Bhagyaraj passed away in Chennai on June 27 following a fatal heart attack, marking the end of a five-decade career in Tamil cinema.
Widely regarded as one of Tamil cinema’s most influential filmmakers, Bhagyaraj was known for writing, directing and acting in several acclaimed films, including Andha 7 Naatkal, Mundhanai Mudichu, Chinna Veedu and Enga Chinna Rasa.
