An altercation between two lovers resulted in a woman’s murder in Punjab’s Ludhiana district. It is learnt that an argument between them snowballed with the woman attacking the private parts of her lover, who retaliated by strangling her to death.

The murder is said to have taken place in a hotel room. They had checked into the hotel on Friday. According to police, the woman was demanding that her lover, identified as Amit Nishad, marry her, which sparked an argument. As the argument escalated, she allegedly used a sharp weapon to severely injure his genitals, causing significant bleeding

Infuriated by the attack, the man retaliated by strangling her to death and then fleeing the scene. The deceased woman was a mother of two and was undergoing divorce proceedings with her husband. She had met Nishad during this period.

Ludhiana DCP Rupinder Singh stated that the woman’s body was sent for a postmortem. Subsequently, the accused was arrested but due to his critical genital injuries, he has been admitted to a hospital in Chandigarh for treatment. The police continue to investigate the sequence of events.

In a separate incident in Gujarat, a man stabbed his estranged wife’s live-in partner to death after spotting him in market in Jamnagar district on Wednesday. It is learnt that the couple had separated sometime ago over their frequent fights. The accused man used to abuse his wife, Sonalben, when she was pregnant, and claimed that the child was not his, suspecting her extra-marital affair.

The accused husband fled the scene after the crime. Upon receiving information about the murder, the police rushed to the scene and increased security in the area. The police took the body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem examination. An investigation into the matter was launched.
