At least four Sindh Rangers personnel were killed after militants attacked a Pakistan Rangers facility in Karachi on Saturday, triggering explosions and heavy gunfire in parts of the city.

According to Pakistan’s Dawn, an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into the provincial headquarters of the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, sparking an intense exchange of gunfire between attackers and security forces.

Residents reported hearing a powerful explosion in the Mosamiat Chowrangi area, after which security personnel cordoned off nearby streets. Another blast and heavy firing were later reported near Meteorological Chowrangi on University Road.

Dawn reported that special units, including the Rapid Response Force and police commandos, were rushed to the scene as security forces launched an operation against the attackers.

Pakistani forces later killed six terrorists and captured one attacker alive after foiling the attempted assault on the Sindh Rangers facility.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), a splinter faction of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack. The group said the assault was carried out by its suicide squad, the Khulafa-e-Rashideen Ishtishhadi Brigade.
